Don’t Sell Yourself Short

Every one of us was created by God, and He made us each unique in our own special way. We were not meant to only be valued by body shape or type. We are spirits that have souls and live in bodies. Your soul is comprised of your mind, will, and emotions. Unfortunately, many women have endured so many setbacks, disappointments, and failures that they are on autopilot, not using their minds for their intended purpose. They wander through life thinking each experience will mirror the last, letting their emotions control the outcome of every interaction.

Could it be that we are our own worst enemies? Could our media consumption influence our thoughts and behaviors based on our emotions? Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) says, “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” If you think too little or too highly of yourself, it blinds you to your own shortcomings. Your mind and emotions influence your will: will you be happy and content? Will he be enough? Will you be enough? All these questions arise from your soul.

Your body is  vehicle made up of many parts and functions, designed to carry out the thoughts and desires derived from your heart and mind. Your spirit, however, is the most crucial part of you. You get to choose which spirit leads and guides you. There are two choices: the spirit of hate and deceit, the enemy of your soul, or the Spirit of Truth, which comes from our loving God through His son, Jesus. Depending on which you choose, know that you must choose; there is no option to try both and see how things turn out. Only the Spirit of Truth leads to understanding and brings every good thing into your life to stay.

Your body, uniquely made for the life you will lead, functions best when active. Your confidence soars when you look good, smell good, and feel good about yourself. Regardless of your size, shape, or color, every woman was given something special and attractive—her "it factor." God made you that way, and the husband God has for you will love your spirit, body, and soul. There’s no need to compare yourself to others; you are a head-turner for your husband, designed that way by God. You are meant to be found by him, as Proverbs 18:22 states, “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.”

Understand that your "it factor" might be your love for God, your mind, determination, kind heart, smile, or physical attributes. Whatever you have, use it to your advantage, but not as a weapon. Be aware of your strong points, take care of them, and show them off respectfully. Men love and marry women that not every man has seen or had. Please cover up and be respectful; remember, you are single in status today, but tomorrow that could change. Every man wants a woman he can be proud of, not someone who will embarrass his name.

If the person you are with wants you to expose your body in a vulgar way, know that he is not mature enough to be husband material. The husband God has prepared for a godly wife will obey the scripture Ephesians 5:25-33, loving and cherishing his wife as Christ loves the church. He will not call you derogatory names or expect you to prove them. He will appreciate and love you for who you are.

In conclusion, don’t sell yourself short. Embrace your uniqueness, let the Spirit of Truth guide you, and wait for the husband God has prepared for you. You deserve the best, and with faith and patience, you will receive it.
